STATEMENT
My paintings begin with a colour or a combination that I can no longer get out of my head, a ‘colour impression’.
Sounds of colour that I encounter in everyday life. I mainly work with acrylic paint on canvas or coated paper. I build up layers that create connections so that a story can unfold. For me, each work of art is an exploration of our world. My companion is literature, silence.
My aim is to create vibrant paintings in which strong, high-contrast colours are in the foreground, sometimes inspired by colour field painting with clearly delineated forms or a more gestural, multi-layered style of painting that is characterised by the free use of colour and form.

BIO
Hello and welcome!
I was born in Paris, an extraordinary city rich in history and beauty. But, I grew up in Germany`s charming countryside, amidst vineyards and blossoming fields along the so-called „Strata Montana“ (the romans were already gowing grapes there)
From the bustle of a great city to the gentle landscapes, I explored the treasures of the woods and orchads and still love to do so.
Interestingly, the path of painting began with chemistry.
The fascination with how elements interact never disappeared – it simply shifted onto the canvas. When colours meet, challenge each other and finally connect, something similar happens.
Perhaps it is no coincidence, that I originally studied chemistry. I am still fascinated by what happens when colours meet. Like small dicoveries on the canvas.
During my time in California, I was in close contact with international postdocs from a well-known American biochemistry company, Syntex. Its co-founder Carl Djerassi had set up a foundation to support artists. In the Syntex Gallery I had my first platform for my painting and was able to show my work at a joint exhibition with other artists. So much for the question of how chemistry and art can go together.
I was asked in culture magazine “ What does chemistry has to do with art? „
“ For me, science has something to do with seeing and understanding structures. Discovering the unknown and exploring the connections is something that I associate with my art, which is often inspired by nature and the diverse, exciting environment.“
My life experiences so far impress like an exciting painting in all colors and structures.
Starting with my work at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, where I financed my studies in the workshops for stage and scenery construction, through my participation in an opera performance at the Bolshoi Theater in the 1980s, a „time-out“ in the USA to my current activities and many exhibitions in my favorite historic houses / villas.
Companies already commission artworks to distingiush their Foyer, Entrance areas and Offices, such as „Cisco Systmes GmbH“ (Munich , Frankfurt) , „Prevent“ in Frankfurt /Airport, „Dahler Darmstadt“ real estate, also consultants & private collectors.
Many paintings begins with a color of moment from everyday live – a bouquet of flowers, light touching historical architecture or even the colors on a set restaurant table.
From that first impression, layers of colour, lines and shapes gradually interact until a visual, balance emerges. What matters is the moment when colours begin to respond to each other and the painting develops it’s own rhythm.
A natural attraction to the ineffable, combined with an affinity for nature and an independent spirit, compelled me to seek a life in art.

Testimonials
Liebe Frau Diefenbach,
